Science Pack (Published: Dec
2002)
The 'Say Cheese' Science Teaching Pack is a great tool
for teachers to show children the importance of a healthy, balanced
diet. Children will find the wide range of activities fun to do
whilst learning the importance of the key nutrients in cheese such
as calcium, protein, vitamin A, vitamin B 12 and vitamin D. The
pack contains an array of creative ideas for classroom activities
that demonstrate the value of cheese in a balanced diet, the rich
variety of cheeses available and explores the process of
manufacturing cheese.
Design and Technology Pack (Published: Dec
2003)
The 'Say Cheese' Design and Technology Teaching Pack is a
great tool for teachers to encourage children to think about what
they eat, as well as the way that it is presented and made. From
designing pizzas for the 'Party Pizza Company' to creating a pop-up
book about cheese, there is a wealth of ideas that will engage
children about this goldmine of nutrients and goodness. In
addition, there is an informative film on CD-ROM comparing and
contrasting the processes of large-scale cheese making and those of
a farmhouse cheese maker.
Geography Pack (Published: Jan
2005)
The 'Say Cheese' Geography pack is the latest in the
series. Based on a request from Linda - a farmer in South Africa -
who is looking to set up a cheese making farm in the UK, the class
is asked to help her decide where she should do this, what cheeses
she should make and at what time of the year. She also asks for
help in understanding where cheese is sold and the types of cheese
eaten in the UK .
Through a series of activities including classroom surveys, comparing graphs and calculating the number of miles food has travelled, the class can better understand the process of cheese production and marketing including where and how it is produced, how far it travels and how climate can effect production.
