Zero mastitis through design

Published 23 March 11

DairyCo's resident cow signals expert Karen Lancaster will be speaking about tackling mastitis through better building design at the Agricultural Buildings Show at Stoneleigh Park on 29 March.

"There's often an assumption that mastitis is all down to milking routine and hygiene," says Karen. "But with the majority of mastitis cases being caused by environmental bacteria we need to think beyond the five point plan and tackle the building design issues which stop us from reaching that elusive target of zero mastitis."

Karen will speak about how the design of buildings can impact on mastitis, and what farmers should think about if considering new buildings.  Karen will also look at how simple alterations to older buildings can help to minimise mastitis risk.

Visit the seminar area to find out how to design your buildings to reduce your cell counts and make mastitis a memory.
