Recruitment and people management made easy

Dairy producers can get access to the latest in labour management resources, free of charge on the DairyCo website. 

DairyCo has developed a whole range of human resources templates that can provide the blueprint for everything from putting together a job description, to the right questions to ask at interviews and how to handle the disciplinary process.

"Labour is the second highest cost in producing a litre of milk and it's crucial you not only recruit the best possible candidates for the job but keep them working well within your business," says Karen Wonnacott, DairyCo Research and Development Manager.  

"But it can be a confusing and fast moving area, with employment legislation changing all the time. The human resource templates have been developed to not only make sure producers are ticking all the legal boxes but getting the best possible candidates for the jobs."

There are a huge range of templates available to dairy farmers to help fill a vacancy and then manage staff correctly once they have been employed. They cover all aspects of recruiting and employing staff from job descriptions and example job advertisements for various roles to a sample redundancy letter and final warning notice. These templates, downloadable from the DairyCo website or available via the publications department, are all free of charge and can save expensive legal fees.

"Employment law is a complex area," says Karen Wonnacott. "These templates are updated every month to make sure they reflect the latest regulatory changes to employment law and, crucially, the Agricultural Wages Order. By using these templates producers can be sure they are working with the latest possible information."

Information about equity partnerships, contract farming and shared farming agreements will also be available to producers later in the year. There will be a series of factsheets and tables available on the DairyCo website as well as a review of the tax legislation and legal implications of these business structures.
