Exports

  • Provisional figures show a decrease in exports of WMP between 2012 and 2013 by 36,000 tonnes (1.8%).
  • Butter exports increased by 52,000 tonnes (6.8%) between 2012 and 2013 according to provisional figures.
  • World exports are forecast to rise in 2014. The largest forecast increases are for SMP and WMP which are predicted to increase by 13.2% and 10.1% respectively.

Imports

  • Imports of all products have, provisionally, seen an increase in 2013 compared to 2012.
  • WMP imports increased by 155,000 (18.5%) tonnes between 2012 and 2013 according to provisional data. This is a continuation of the strong upward trend seen since 2011. Demand for WMP imports is being driven by Asian markets, specifically China.
  • It is predicted that imports of all products will continue to increase in 2014. WMP imports are predicted to increase by an additional 419,000 tonnes to a total of 1,413,000.
