What you can do to reduce nitrous oxide emissions. This leaflet, looks at how nitrous oxide emissions could be reduced by farming practices that maximise the the use of nitrogen inputs. By Increasing efficiency of nitrogen utilisation from animal feeds, managing organic manure to maximise crop uptake are the most important management practices. Nitrous oxide is a potent greenhouse gas which is about 300 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. It is also responsible for depletion of the ozone layer.
