Greenhouse gases and ammonia emissions from dairy farming

Greenhouse gases and ammonia emissions from dairy farming

This factsheet will look at how ammonia emissions from dairy farming impact climate change. Greenhouse gases, must be reduced if the extremes of climate change that have been predicted are to be avoided. UK dairy farmers have already achieved major reductions in emissions of Greenhouse gases over the past 15 years, but more will be expected. This leaflet describes the main sources of GHGs and ammonia from dairy farming systems and the benefits to be gained from reducing them.
