From the whole farm review carried out it became clear that with the increasing cow numbers the land would have to be farmed more intensively/efficiently in order to meet the demand for home grown forages.

One of the main strengths of the business is their high, consistent yields from overall, well producing cows. However a highlighted weakness is their location in a densely populated dairy area, with few land opportunities likely to arise.

Following from the strengths and weaknesses a key performance indicator of the business focusing on land use and availability highlighted the need for Hillhead to alter the way in which they use the restricted land they have available.
