BVDV is a major bovine pathogen which infects many cell types in a variety of organ systems including the female reproductive tract. In fact the major consequences of BVDV infections are associated with one, or more aspects of reproduction (poor fertility, loss of milk, congenital defects, poor calf health, maternal transmission resulting in persistently infected calves)
