Izak Van Heerden

I am your DairyCo extension officer for the South East of England; I cover from Dorset, Wiltshire and Berkshire through to Kent with all the counties in-between.

I moved to England from South Africa in early 2002 and managed and milked cows on large- intensive and extensive systems in the Sussex area. I went on to lecture in dairy production and management at Plumpton College for 5 years, before joining the DairyCo extension officer team in June of 2011.

I have a particular interest in the use of on-farm protocols. After learning different protocol systems both here and the USA, I look forward to exercising my experience on how on-farm protocols can improve cow management. 

I am a link between DairyCo and the farmer, helping to deliver the products and services DairyCo provides by putting on technical meetings and helping set up new discussion groups.
