Introducing the Extension Team in your area
A key part of being an extension officer is to help provide
world class knowledge to our UK dairy farmers. We work with a range
of different dairy organisations to make sure we are as accessible
as possible providing the most up to date and effective information
for you to use in your business.
As a team we can share our technical expertise with the dairy
farming community. Discussion groups and open
meetings are always great tools to discover alternative
methods and share experiences.

What's been happening?
A very successful meeting was held at J Goodwin and Sons looking at what benefits the Healthy Feet Programme has brought them but also challenges and changes still to be made.
Ben Brearly from the Livestock Partnership and Peter Heath from Stock 1st both newly qualified HFP Mobility Mentors were keen to show the 25 farmers in attendance the benefits of the programme.
A group of 30 farmers were lucky enough to visit Vortex Holstein's of Tom King, the recent RABDF Gold Cup winner. The day consisted of Sally Wilson of Evolution vets looking at cow flow and how collecting yard design can influence lameness.
Karen Lancaster of DairyCo looked at the impact of cow comfort on production. The key message here was that attention to detail without having to spend a fortune will make the difference between a mediocre and an excellent herd.
