Kingshay National Production

  • Average daily yields for farms using Kingshay costings rose 0.5 litres/day between February and March. This average was unchanged from March last year.
  • Average butterfat levels fell by 0.04 percentage points between February and March to 4.10%. This is 0.03 percentage points higher than in March 2011.
  • Average protein levels fell 0.03 percentage points between February and March. This figure was 0.01 percentage points lower than March 2011.
  • The average milk price of 29.09ppl in March 2012 was 0.20ppl (0.7%) lower than the average price in February 2012; but 2.73ppl (10.4%) above the March 2011 figure.

Rolling Annual Averages 

Rolling annual data for the 12 months to March showed a 110 litres per cow increase in the average milk yield to 8,284 litres per cow, equivalent to an increase of 1.3%. Butterfat levels increased by 0.02 percentage points but protein levels have fallen by 0.01 percentage points. The milk price has increased over the 12 months by 2.94ppl (11.7%) to 28.09ppl.
