UK Dairy Trade Balance

  • Provisional exports for all dairy products rose between 2009 and 2010, with the exception of raw milk and butter which remained the same.   

  • Imports of cheese provisionally rose by 16,000 tonnes (3.8%) while exports rose by 7,000 tonnes.

  • Exports of milk powders provisionally stand at 91,000 tonnes, a 19,000 tonne (26.4%) increase compared to the previous year.

UK Trade Balance in spend terms

The deficit in the UK trade balance in dairy products fell in 2010 by £47m to £1.22bn. The value of imported dairy products rose by £152m but the value of exports rose by £199m.
