Pete has been involved in the milk industry for all his working life. His grandparents were dairy farmers in Lincolnshire and as well as helping out on the family farm, he gained practical experience in both the Uk and abroad.
He obtained an HND at Harper Adams University College before joining the Milk Marketing Board as a field officer in 1979. He was heavily involved in the lead up to the deregulation of the milk industry and the transformation of the Milk Marketing Board into Milk Marque. After this successful transition, a new challenge was offered to him by Alan Wiseman and in April 1995 he left Milk Marque to join the ambitious and expanding company of Robert Wiseman Dairies.
Following three years securing a milk field for the then new dairy at Manchester, he became Director of Milk Procurement in 1998. In his role he has more than 1,100 farmers selling over 3.5 million litres of milk per day through the Wiseman Milk Group.
Pete is currently VC of Dairy UK Scotland and has been a past Chairman of the Scottish Dairy Federation and the National Dairy Farm Assured Scheme. He has been closely involved with Industry politics ever since joining Wisemans, on both sides of the border, through Dairy UK and in addition to this, he currently represents the company on DEFRA's Dairy Supply Chain Forum.
